Get the best taste by barbecuing over an open fire

Roasty Boss

For a long time, I’ve been longing for a big enough, durable and multi-purpose BBQ grill that would endure the varying weather conditions in Finland. However, my dream grill was not available on the market, so we at Kirami decided to make one ourselves. The Roasty Boss BBQ grill provides the best taste, as it can be used with both wood and charcoal.

Roasty BossAdjusting the temperature is often difficult in charcoal grills, so we decided to solve this problem as well. The Roasty Boss allows the barbecue grid to be easily moved in relation to the pot to ensure quick temperature adjustments. For the same reason, I also wanted the grill to allow stepless height adjustment of the grid. The Roasty Boss has a double grid that allows it to be used as a fish grilling basket and be tilted into the right cooking position. The grill also has space for grilling enough food for a large group of people at once.

The Roasty Boss BBQ grill and Roasty Boss pot are COR-TEN steel products made in Finland that endure all weather conditions. A dense oxide layer forms on the steel surface and takes on a rust-coloured patina. The oxide layer protects the steel and prevents corrosion from entering deeper into the material, making the products weather-proof.

Tips from a chef

Jesse Söderlund

Our Roasty Boss BBQ grill was tested by chef Jesse Söderlund, a member of the Finnish national cooking team. In his opinion, nothing beats the taste of food cooked over an open fire – another important thing is the special ambience created by the open fire. I fully agree with Jesse about this.

According to Jesse, the best thing about the Roasty Boss is its large size, as it accommodates a great deal of ingredients at once and provides good, even heat, with the moveable grid helping adjust the temperature.

I asked Jesse for some tips on cooking over an open fire. Among others, he listed the following things:

  • when the wood or charcoal starts to become embers, you should level it across the bottom of the grill to get even heat
  • if you want to roast something quickly, you should utilise the flames before the wood or charcoal burns down to embers
  • you can add a variety of flavours to food by adding different types of wood, leaves or herbs to the fire – you should definitely try it out!
  • an open fire also creates ambience, which is an important element in cooking
