Now the garden has both – a sauna and a hot tub

Kirami supplied a sauna and a hot tub for the Blomgvists’ garden
Kirami checked in on their customers in Porvoo in August. There, the five members of the Blomqvist family enjoy bathing in the hot tub and sauna throughout the year. The sporty family also use the sauna and tub for recovery after training.
The FinVision -sauna caught the Blomqvists’ attention at a food fair in Berlin in the spring of 2019. The family got excited about getting a sauna and made plans to meet a Kirami representative at the Spring Fair in Helsinki.
“We were only going to buy the sauna at the fair. But then Kirami’s Managing Director Mika Rantanen started to recommend a hot tub as well, and it didn’t take long before we were on board,” says the father of the family, Ray Blomqvist.
The angular Grandy has the right look
The Blomqvists were not looking for an ordinary hot tub, but luckily, Kirami has a broad selection of different tubs.
“We did not want to have a basic round tub, so Kirami offered us the angular Grandy. We liked it immediately, so we decided to get the tub in addition to the sauna.”
The sauna and the Grandy tub are the same colour, and they look very nice together in the garden.
“The sauna has a unique look thanks to the large glass wall. We also liked the benches with waney edges and the colours of the sauna. The best things about the tub are the size and the stairs. We just really like the way the Grandy hot tub looked overall.”
Quick and easy to order
Blomqvist describes the ordering process as effortless.
“I think the process may actually have been a little too easy, as we ended up getting the sauna and the tub. We agreed that Kirami would take care of transportation. A truck delivered all of the equipment in one go. We had a contractor perform the foundation work for the sauna and tub, but otherwise we were able to install everything ourselves. We had the hot tub in place for the First of May, and the sauna was completed by Midsummer.”

The active family have been satisfied with their purchases. The family’s middle son Jonni Blomqvist is an avid athlete – he won the Finnish Championship in 400-metre hurdles for under 22s in 2018. Jonni arrived at the Kirami summer photo shoot fresh from the international between Finland and Sweden. The summer shoot was organised at the Blomqvists’ home in Porvoo in August.
“Our two other sons, Jere and Janne run and play floorball. My wife Mira goes to spin class and I work out at the gym. Because we are an active family, bathing in the sauna and the hot tub is an excellent way to recover after training hard.”
Ray Blomqvist has another passion in addition to sports and the hot tub: American vintage cars. A rare model is parked in the driveway.
“This is a 1970 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible. Only 48 of these cars with these specs have ever been made.”
The active man also likes to take his car for a spin.
“My car hobby includes a morning coffee ride on Saturdays with the guys from the neighbourhood. We start at 7:30 on Saturday mornings, I pick my neighbours up and we set off for the Porvoo market place for coffee. We take a little ride and are back home by 9:15 am. Naturally, I have the top down for the entire journey, we have been doing this for three summers now,” Blomqvist says with a smile.
The hot tub brings the family together
The FinVision sauna and hot tub have really met the family’s expectations.
“We are very happy with our purchase and intend to bathe in our sauna in the garden throughout the year. We are planning on heating the tub to 38 degrees at least at Christmas and the New Year,” Ray Blomqvist says.
The tub has also become a way of spending time together.
“The hot tub brings us together, because we all want to enjoy it and spend time together. Even our dog Truffe stands by the tub and watches us. We also bought the floating Water Bass speaker for our tub. It’s nice to just relax and listen to some good music in the hot tub.”
